Cerebras Systems
The Cerebras facility in Oklahoma City, launched in September 2025 in partnership with Scale Datacenters, is a cutting-edge data center dedicated to high-speed AI inference and supercomputing. It is designed to house over 300 of Cerebras' CS-3 Wafer-Scale Engine systems, providing an immense compute capacity reported to be over 44 exaflops of AI compute. This makes it one of the world's fastest AI infrastructures, utilizing direct-to-chip liquid cooling and matching all consumed power with renewable energy.
The site's history predates its use for advanced AI. The facility, an 82,000 sq ft structure located near NW 62nd Street, was originally built around 2013 for what was then Chesapeake Energy. This initial design as a corporate data center for an energy company gave it a robust foundation, including Tier III-quality infrastructure, and resilience against severe weather, such as seismic and tornado shielding, with triple redundant power stations.
The data center was later acquired by Scale Datacenters from the natural gas producer Expand Energy. Scale Datacenters then prepared the site and infrastructure to meet the demanding requirements of Cerebras' wafer-scale architecture, which uses the massive CS-3 chips. The strategic location was chosen for its combination of low costs, ample space, and resilient construction, positioning Oklahoma City as a significant hub for the next generation of generative AI computing.
