Fossefall AS and Numedal Næringspark AS are in discussions about developing a 15 MW AI data center at the former Kongsberg Automotive factory complex in Rollag, Buskerud county, Norway, approximately 50 km west of Oslo.
The factory was established by Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk in 1975, operated by Kongsberg Automotive until the plant closed in 2017, and has stood largely vacant since. Fossefall powers its AI factories using surplus Norwegian hydroelectric energy and leases AI compute capacity to enterprise customers, with US AI firm Seekr as anchor customer and 15.6% equity investor. No sale agreement has been signed, no planning application has been filed, and no timeline or investment figure has been disclosed for this site.
Fossefall is a newly established, ambitious Nordic company dedicated to transforming clean energy into Europe's Artificial Intelligence (AI) backbone. The company specializes in building AI factories—next-generation infrastructure designed from the ground up for real computation and innovation, rather than traditional data storage.
These AI factories produce, scale, and secure intelligence on Nordic ground, emphasizing efficiency, scalability, and sustainability through purpose-built designs for power, cooling, and connectivity.
Backed by a team of experienced founders, industry experts, and long-term investors, Fossefall represents a new industrial era: digital, renewable, and intelligent. Anchored in stable democracies and powered by renewable energy, the company ensures that sovereignty and sustainability go hand in hand. Fossefall leverages the force of water, converting hydropower into compute capacity and progress for Europe.
