Google Launches $15bn Data Center Build in India

Google has s have been given the green light to construct a massive data center campus in Hermantown, Minnesota. The application, filed under the name Harmony Group LLC (a subsidiary of a Delaware corporate services group), outlines plans for four substantial, 50-foot-tall concrete buildings, each spanning 300,000 square feet. Construction on the $650 million project could start in 2027 and would be built out over eight to ten years.
These structures are designed to house the crucial IT infrastructure necessary to "store, process and transmit the data utilized in everyday digital services for users worldwide."
The proposal includes new landscaping plans and addresses concerns regarding noise pollution. The company provided modeling that accounts for noise generated by the necessary cooling infrastructure and backup generators. With planned mitigation measures, such as a screen wall along the property's northern boundary, the company asserts that noise levels will be kept at or below the nighttime limit for surrounding residential areas.
