Silicon Sands DC

The Silicon Sands project is a flagship digital infrastructure campus being developed by Blackpool Council at the Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone. The local authority is currently seeking a private sector partner to build and operate the first data center, which will be constructed on the site of the former airport fire station.

The project is strategically positioned to leverage the nearby landing of the CeltixConnect-2 subsea cable, providing crucial, low-latency connectivity. Furthermore, the council is championing a sustainable model, mandating the use of renewable energy, liquid immersion cooling, and the recycling of waste heat into a local district heating network to ensure the facility is carbon-friendly.
